Plus d'informations
L'objectif principal du centre est de promouvoir un accès responsable aux richesses naturelles tout en offrant une présentation captivante et éducative des caractéristiques écologiques uniques de la région, de manière immersive et informative.
The History of Hunting and Presentation of Local Wildlife
The exhibition at the Visitor Centre offers an in-depth exploration of the hunting grounds that once belonged to the Eszterházy estate, providing insights into traditional hunting practices and the world of aristocratic gamekeeping. Visitors can learn about the lifestyle, feeding habits, behaviour, and natural habitats of fallow deer and red deer, gaining a deeper understanding of these iconic species.
Beyond the history of hunting, the thematic displays also highlight the rich biodiversity of the surrounding area, offering an engaging and thought-provoking experience for nature lovers and environmentally conscious visitors alike.
Folk Traditions and Local History along the Koppány Stream
Beyond its focus on nature and wildlife management, the DámPont also functions as a cultural heritage centre. Through its exhibitions and programmes, visitors can discover the folk traditions, craftsmanship, and everyday life of the communities living along the Koppány Stream, as well as gain insight into the historical past of the region.
Adjacent to the Tamási Game Park
Located directly next to the Visitor Centre, the Tamási Game Park offers an excellent opportunity to experience in real life what visitors have learned in the exhibitions. The park is home to fallow deer, red deer, mouflons, and wild boars, kept in an environment that closely resembles their natural habitat, complete with walking trails and educational signage to enrich the experience.
The Miklósvár Lake and the Chapel of Saint Hubertus
The nearby Miklósvár Lake is a particularly atmospheric and tranquil spot. Once used as a fishpond, it has now become a popular destination for hiking and relaxation. A nature trail runs along its shore, with interpretive signs guiding visitors through the area’s natural features. Especially in spring and autumn, the lake is a favourite among birdwatchers and nature photographers, thanks to its rich birdlife.
Overlooking the lake, nestled among the forest trees, stands the Chapel of Saint Hubertus. This modest yet dignified chapel is a memorial to the aristocratic hunting traditions of the past and pays tribute to Saint Hubertus, the patron saint of hunters. It serves not only as a spiritual site, but also as a cultural heritage landmark, offering a serene setting for quiet reflection or outdoor cultural events.
Sustainability and an Ecotourism Approach
Sustainability lies at the heart of the DámPont’s operations. From its architectural design to its day-to-day functioning, the centre places strong emphasis on the use of environmentally friendly solutions, the involvement of local communities, and the preservation of ecotourism values.
Instant Tours in Tamási and the Surrounding Region (ITTT)
The DámPont Visitor Centre serves as the starting point for the regional ITTT – Instant Tours in Tamási and the Surrounding Area stamp-collecting game. This playful initiative encourages visitors to explore the natural and cultural treasures of the region. Participants can collect stamps at various locations — such as the Ozorai Castle, the Simontornya Fortress, and the DámPont itself — with a total of 22 designated sites. Those who collect stamps at multiple locations may receive a reward.
The game offers a fun and engaging way to discover the region's diverse tourism experiences.
