Association of Hungarian Regional and Urban Developers
The objective of the Association is to coordinate and professionally support the collective efforts of professionals working inthe Hungarian regional and urban development.
The idea to establish the Association of Hungarian Regional and Urban Developers was conceived at the "Meeting of Regions" conference, held on September 19-20, 2002. The conference served as a professional gathering for graduates of the Regional and Urban Development Management program at the University of Miskolc.
During the conference, participants recognized the necessity of a professional association that could provide a forum for discussing common challenges faced by experts working in regional and urban development. The association would coordinate the collective efforts of professionals trained in regional and urban development in professional, scientific, and public activities.
Objectives of the Association
The objectives of the Association are defined in its founding charter, which was adopted at the inaugural general assembly on October 24, 2002. According to the charter, the Association is prepared to accept any individual with a higher education degree as a member, represent their interests, and provide a platform for discussing professional opinions.
As part of its activities, the Association places special emphasis on:
- Promoting professional and social recognition of regional and urban developers,
- Organizing conferences and training programs, and
- Developing domestic and international relations.

Operation of the Association
The officials coordinating the Association's activities perform their tasks on a voluntary basis, without receiving honoraria or reimbursement. Regular members pay an annual membership fee of HUF 2,000, which covers the operational costs of the Association.
The Association also welcomes supporting members, including Hungarian and foreign individuals and legal entities, who contribute to the Association’s work, particularly in organizing conferences, training programs, and professional study tours. To supplement financial support from members, the Association also participates in relevant grant applications.

Sustainability
A key objective of the Association is to help as many Hungarian municipalities as possible contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To this end, the organization:
- Organizes training programs, awareness-raising initiatives, and conferences, and
- Collaborates with civil organizations that work towards similar goals.
In line with this mission, the Association is actively involved in the development of i-dest.com, recognizing the importance of implementing objective, data-driven tourism and urban development.
