Éva Dóka Winery – Wines from Zala, crafted from grapes grown on stunning vineyards with a contemporary spirit.

Éva Dóka has been familiar with the world of Zala's vineyards since childhood, as her father introduced her to viticulture and winemaking at an early age. Her partner, Robi Tarsoly, fell in love with the experience during his first encounter with new wine. Their shared passion – a love for wine and the Zala landscape – gave birth to the Éva Dóka Winery in 1998, which now cultivates three outstanding vineyards in Zala: Csáford, Aranyod, and Pogányvár.

From vine to glass – the diversity of Zala

The winery's goal is to capture the diversity of Zala in every bottle. The wines produced here are cheerful, contemplative, playful, or wise – just like the landscape itself. Éva Dóka Winery crafts its wines from carefully tended grapes grown on its own plantations, using two cultivation methods – semi-canopy and cordon. With 8–10 buds per vine and yields of 8–12 tonnes per hectare, consistent quality is ensured year after year. The grape processing is quick and gentle, carried out at low temperatures, resulting in light, fresh, fruity white wines. More characterful white wines – such as Furmint and Kabar – are aged in oak barrels. Most red wines also achieve their rich flavours through barrel ageing.

Wine tastings in unique settings – the Zalaszentgrót Distillery and Csáford's Tasmania

The Éva Dóka Winery is housed in a unique building known locally as the "Distillery," as it was originally built as a brandy distillery in the early 20th century. Today, it retains its industrial heritage while serving as the home of the winery, where modern technology and respect for tradition coexist in perfect harmony. On the building's upper floor is the "Attic Cellar," a cosy wine-tasting space that can accommodate 50–60 guests. Here, Éva and Róbert personally guide visitors through the world of Zala wines.
The estate on the Csáford vineyard offers a completely different atmosphere. From the small house perched atop the hill, the spacious terrace provides breathtaking views of the Zala Valley, with sights like the Peace Stupa in Zalaszántó and Rezi Castle visible in the distance.
As Éva has a flair for cooking and baking, wine tastings are accompanied by homemade sourdough bread, savoury scones, and dips.

More than just wine

Éva and Róbert are not only passionate about wine and the Zala landscape but are also keen supporters of the arts. They regularly organise exhibitions featuring works by local artists at the Distillery and are active patrons of the Villa Negra art colony.
As proud natives of Zala, they are both deeply rooted in the region and have countless stories to share, which they are delighted to recount during a wine tasting.

Product highlights

Nektár
Nektár is not just a catchy name but also a unique grape variety bred in Zala. Its freshness, playful fruitiness, and flirtatious spiciness captivate anyone who tries it. With its light and charming character, it becomes the wine of joy, laughter, and the zest for life – a true experience wine that brings the cheerfulness of Zala's rolling hills to every sip.
The secret of the wine lies in the technology: early morning harvest, quick processing, cold settling, and meticulous attention during fermentation. The low temperatures preserve all the aromas and fragrances, resulting in the incomparable Nektár aroma, which is bottled fresh, vibrant, and fruity.

Hegyke – The flagship of the Zala wine region
Hegyke is a true community wine: lively, fresh, and aromatic, a white cuvée born from the collaboration of Zala winemakers to put the Zala Wine Region back on Hungary's wine map. Its foundation is built on grape varieties native to the Carpathian Basin and unique Zala cultivars – such as Cserszegi Fűszeres, Pátria, Rozália, and Nektár – all contributing to the wine's character. The blend is anchored by classic varieties like Olaszrizling, Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Királyleányka.
Every bottle of Hegyke embodies the diversity of Zala's hills and the expertise of local winemakers. The carefully crafted technology – selecting excellent individual wines, experimenting, and blending – ensures that wherever you open it, you'll always experience the same fresh, vibrant, and flavourful delight.
And why is it called Hegyke? Find out during a tasting!
