Kondoros

The history and natural treasures of Kondoros come together in an exciting fusion. The still-operating Kondorosi Csárda was once a famous meeting place for Sándor Rózsa and the legendary outlaws of the Alföld. After tasting the local dishes, visitors can explore the life of the outlaws through a permanent exhibition in the inn. Nearby protected areas are home to unique plants such as drooping sage and dwarf almond, and the region is rich in small game and deer. Among Kondoros’s famous sons are András Balczó, a three-time Olympic pentathlon champion, and Tibor Csernus, a Munkácsy and Kossuth Prize-winning painter. The beauty of nature and the village’s famous figures coexist in harmony with Kondoros’s past and present, a tradition kept alive by the annual Kondorosi Outlaw Days.
