III. Vaskenyér Days
A unique summer weekend where you can travel back hundreds of years in time
From 7th to 9th August, the III. Iron Bread Days await you at the Fazola Forge in Újmassa!
During this three-day free traditional event, visitors can learn about the process of medieval ironworking, from building a bloomery and charcoal burning to roasting, smelting, and compacting iron ore, all the way to forging the finished iron bloom.
7th August (Friday)
09:00 - 18:00 - Dr Ádám Thiele and his team: bloomery construction, charcoal burning, bloomery renovation and drying
8th August (Saturday)
09:00 - 18:00 - Dr Ádám Thiele and his team: preparation of iron ore and charcoal for smelting, smelting, compacting the resulting iron bloom
9th August (Sunday)
10:00 - 18:00 - Dr Ádám Thiele and his team: forging the resulting iron bloom, dismantling the bloomery
Throughout the weekend, additional traditional and cultural programmes will be offered to visitors courtesy of the Torockó Archery Guild.
