The Treasure Trove of Bodrogkeresztúr

Keresztúr was inhabited already in prehistoric times. This is evidenced by the discovery of the two great artefact assemblages discovered. In the spring of 1918, workers at the foot of Dereszla Hill found gold jewellery, which archaeologists later determined to belong to the people who lived in the area 4,000 years ago. In 1921, another major set of finds was unearthed: the excavation of a prehistoric cemetery revealed the Bronze Age Bodrogkeresztúr culture. You can discover the relics found in the Treasure Trove.
