Maroshévíz Folk Art Museum
The Maroshévíz Ethnographic Museum is not just an exhibition space but a journey through time, revealing the past, daily life, and celebrations of the local community. Founded in 1998 and reorganised in 2006, the museum operates as part of the Toplița Cultural Centre and works closely with the folk ensemble “Rapsodia Călimanilor” to bring traditions to life.

The institution aims to preserve and showcase the rich traditions, everyday life, and material heritage of the Maroshát region.
The museum guides visitors through the daily life of the past in five exhibition rooms and a spacious hall. In the courtyard, visitors can see old wagon wheels, ploughs, and other tools used by locals, while stepping inside begins a unique journey through time.

Children's Room – Cradles, toys, and school items tell the story of childhood in the 19th and 20th centuries. Entering through the small door symbolises respect and humility.

Youth Room – Traditional wedding scenes, century-old folk costumes, and garments associated with shepherd life illustrate the world of young people.

Odăiţa – Household items such as flat irons, pots, icons, and wall hangings evoke the atmosphere of homes in the Maroshát region. Temporary exhibitions feature a variety of unique items, from painted eggs to military relics.
The museum's library holds over 3,200 volumes, while old photographs bring the history of Maroshévíz to life.
The Maroshévíz Ethnographic Museum is not only a guardian of local traditions but also an active meeting place for the community. By showcasing the works of local artisans and nurturing the living traditions of folk culture, it contributes to the preservation of local identity and the sustainable development of the community. Visitors can experience how respect for the past connects with responsibility for the future – in line with the principles of sustainable tourism.
