An Accurate Description of a Pig Slaughter

A humorous story of a pig slaughter in Upper Hungary during the 1970s, featuring pálinka, wine, and Soviet soldiers.

"The story takes place in 1970 on the author's family estate in Búcs, a village near my hometown, Dunamocs, in Upper Hungary, during the period following the events of the '68 revolution (the Prague Spring).

Every year, the men set out to slaughter the pig, but there's always one more shot of pálinka, one more glass of wine, and one more song, so the pig slaughter invariably gets postponed.

However, the Soviet army stationed at the Komárom Fortress catches the scent of pálinka, and before long, a regiment of young Soviet soldiers, led by Major Markaszan, shows up on the Búcs wine cellar row."
