The Dream Car - a musical frolic in two acts
A performance by Veres 1 Theatre
The legendary Hungarian film, The Dream Car, is brought to the stage in a new theatrical adaptation by Veres1színház.
The story, first released in 1934, is a true modern fairy tale: János Szűcs, a bank director accustomed to wealth and success, experiences a life-changing turn of events thanks to an unexpected encounter. This romantic tale comes to life on stage with humour, twists, and unforgettable melodies.
The screenplay, which serves as the basis for the play, was written by László Vadnay and Miklós Vitéz, adapted for the stage by György Böhm and György Nemlaha, with dramaturgy by Péter Deres. The music was composed by Alfréd Márkus, and the production is directed by György Böhm, recipient of the Jászai and Kálmán Nádasdy Awards.
The production features well-known hits such as 200 Pengő a Month Fixed, In the Dream Car, Stux, I Have No Deposits in the Bank, and This Banana Peel Slides So Well. The atmosphere of the era is evoked through spectacular sets, dances, and plenty of humour.
The performance is presented with the special permission of the rights holders, under an agreement with the INTERSCENA Arts Agency.
