Avas Cellar Tour with Bükk Wine Tasting
On the afternoon of 6 September, join us for a walk enriched with wine, stories, and stunning views: discover Miskolc’s iconic landmarks and the hidden cellar world of Avas!
On Saturday, 6 September, from 3 pm, we invite you to an unforgettable afternoon where the charm of the city’s iconic landmarks meets the magic of Bükk wines. Starting from the Tourinform office (Széchenyi u. 16.), we’ll explore Hungary’s first stone theatre, the Miskolc National Theatre, and the atmospheric Szinva Terrace before strolling through the charming streets of Avas. Our journey will lead us to the historic cellar world stretching above the city. We’ll delve into the depths of the cellars, uncover some of their secrets, and even hear the tale of a former mayor’s love story!
Did you know? The Avas Cellar Row is home to around 800 wine cellars, some 300-400 years old, as Miskolc was a hub of international wine trade centuries ago.
During our tour, you’ll have the chance to taste Bükk wines at four wineries:
Sándor Zsolt Winery
Gonda Winery
Mayor’s Cellar – Gallay Wine
and finally, we’ll toast with a glass of wine at the legendary Avas Lookout, where the breathtaking panorama completes the experience.
After the walk, our route takes us back to Erzsébet Square via the Avas Reformed Church and the historic cemetery – ending the adventure with a touch of history.
But you don’t have to end your day there, as the Avas Kvaterka boutique wine festival awaits you all night long. Plus, it’s the perfect time to enjoy Hungary’s most prestigious film event, the CineFest Miskolc International Film Festival, with screenings in multiple venues. After our tour, you can comfortably catch a film, or if you stay longer, even better, as CineFest runs from 5-13 September! And if you’re looking for great food, the CineGastro special edition of the GastroPlacc film festival is the place to be!
Four cellars, fine wines, unforgettable experiences – join us and discover the world of Avas wines and stories!
