Easter at the Skanzen
This two-day festival (Easter Sunday and Monday) focuses this year on community experiences and intangible cultural heritage. Visitors can look forward to the following programmes:
-
Tradition preservation: Bucket water sprinkling will be showcased at several locations, along with egg rolling, fertility rituals (such as green branch walking), and festive food blessings at the Óbudavár Catholic Church.
-
Gastronomy: Themed tours will explore Easter flavours and symbols, revealing the secrets of preparing fasting and festive dishes.
-
Craftsmanship: Visitors can try traditional egg decorating techniques (wax-resist, leaf pressing), enamel jewellery making, and carving spring noise-making instruments.
-
Stage performances: At the Sonkádi Barn and in the streets, performers such as the Veronaki Story Concert, the Langaléta Garabonciások, the Berka Band, and the Kámfor Puppet Theatre will entertain the audience.
Useful information: During the festival, the museum is open from 9:00 to 17:00, and shuttle buses will operate between the HÉV station and the Skanzen.
