The I-DEST received international recognition at the Skål International sustainability competition

We've reached another significant milestone: one of the most prestigious global organisations in the tourism sector, Skål International, founded in 1934, has awarded the I-DEST initiative with a certificate of recognition as part of the 2026 Skål International Sustainable Tourism Awards.

When the independent jury of international experts recognised 74 global projects, including I-DEST, it was a hugely important validation that we are on the right track. According to the evaluation of the international jury:

"I-DEST presents an exceptionally relevant digital solution that makes sustainability more visible, measurable, and accessible for both tourism stakeholders and visitors."

We are not your typical startup story

We originally started developing I-DEST using our own savings and commitment. We believed – and still believe – that Central Europe needs a comprehensive programme capable of managing, making visible, and measuring the sustainability efforts of destinations, service providers, attractions, and guests simultaneously. We created a system that can effectively support the complex tourism management and communication tasks of individual destinations, regions, and cultural routes.

Then came the CROSSDEST project, which brought a breakthrough and significant professional momentum to the platform. Thanks to the grant support, we were able to develop important modules, and their practical testing began immediately in four pilot destinations.

Within the framework of CROSSDEST, we built the platform's key professional pillars:

  • The e-learning platform that delivers theoretical and practical green knowledge,

  • The internal monitoring tools that ensure real-time tracking of processes,

  • The quality management module that guarantees service standards, and

  • The sustainability self-assessment platform, available free of charge for tourism stakeholders.

Continuous growth: Constantly responding to our partners' needs

We are constantly striving to expand the platform with new features based on the experiences of our attraction, hotel, and destination partners, making sustainable tourism even more visible in practice.

As the latest milestone, we have launched the I-DEST Global Sustainability Challenges, officially joining the international programmes of the European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW). This gamified development directly addresses the international demand for travellers' eco-conscious decisions – from tasting local flavours to green mobility – to be measured in an engaging way through digital stamps.

This is where we are now... Taking small but steady steps forward. We thank all our partners and supporters for joining us in building the digital future of sustainable tourism!

We would like to thank Skål Hungary for their professional support, without which this recognition would not have been possible.
