Ipolytarnóc
Ipolytarnóc is the northernmost settlement of Nógrád County, located on the left bank of the Ipoly River. At the boundary of the settlement, the Ipoly crosses the Slovak-Hungarian land border, marking the beginning of the river's Hungarian valley section. It is situated 140 kilometers from Budapest, 24 kilometers from Szécsény, and 25.5 kilometers from Salgótarján. The settlement gained international fame due to the millions-of-years-old petrified wood and ancient animal footprints found within its boundaries.
