Maroshévíz Folk Art Museum

The institution's aim is to preserve and showcase the rich traditions, daily life, and tangible heritage of the Maroshát region.

The museum guides visitors through the everyday life of the past in five exhibition rooms and a spacious hall. In the courtyard, old wagon wheels, ploughs, and other tools used by locals are displayed, and upon entering, a unique journey through time begins.

• Children's Room – Cradles, toys, and school items tell the story of childhood in the 19th and 20th centuries. Entering through the small door symbolises respect and humility.

• Youth Room – Traditional wedding scenes, century-old folk costumes, and clothing associated with shepherd life illustrate the world of young people.

• Odăiţa – Household items such as charcoal irons, pots, icons, and wall tapestries evoke the atmosphere of Maroshát homes. Temporary exhibitions feature a variety of unique items, from painted eggs to military relics.

The museum's library holds more than 3,200 volumes, while old photographs bring the past of Maroshévíz to life.

The Maroshévíz Ethnographic Museum is not only a guardian of local traditions but also an active meeting place for the community. By showcasing the works of local artisans and nurturing the living traditions of folk culture, it contributes to the preservation of local identity and the sustainable development of the community. Visitors can experience how respect for the past connects with responsibility for the future – in harmony with the principles of sustainable tourism.
