Lendava
The easternmost town in Slovenia hides numerous attractions. Small Lendava is a significant symbol of coexistence and diversity, culture, and gastronomy. It is equally distant from Ljubljana, Budapest, Zagreb, and Vienna, and is considered a cultural hub where Slovenian, Hungarian, Croatian, and Roma communities live in harmony. Add to this the reputation for excellent wines, the capital of bograč, and a place where you can rejuvenate your body and mind in thermal spas, and the list of reasons to visit and experience Lendava only grows. Lendava's greatest asset is its diversity, which you can feel at every step, along with its rich cultural heritage and history, as evidenced by the stories of its town centre. Take a stroll along the wine road, the easternmost in Slovenia, dotted with wine cellars offering stunning views of the landscape. Surrounded by green fields and beautiful nature, Lendava is also an excellent destination for active holidaymakers. Cycling and hiking are popular activities in this area, with numerous trails and paths perfect for adventurous exploration of the town and its surroundings. The local culinary offerings delight with a wide range of dishes that reflect the gastronomic story of the region, with bograč undoubtedly being one of the most recognisable dishes. Welcome to our town! Lendava is the easternmost town in Slovenia and is known for its multiculturalism, where Slovenians, Hungarians, Croatians, and Roma live in harmony. The town reflects a rich cultural heritage, showcased through the history of Lendava Castle, the preserved synagogue, and other heritage sites in the town centre. Based on its rich culinary traditions, several ethno-culinary events are held annually, with the largest being Bogračfest and the Lendava Harvest. Lendava is the world capital of bograč and holds a Guinness World Record. Lendava Thermal Spa boasts unique paraffin water with healing properties. The Mura River is part of Natura 2000 and covers approximately 2% of the municipality's area; the region is rich in biodiversity, with over 200 bird species to observe. The natural features and infrastructure enable active leisure activities such as hiking and cycling. The Lendava wine road connects numerous vineyards and wine cellars, where locals produce various wines, predominantly Welschriesling. In recent years, the biggest tourist attraction in Lendava has been the Vinarium Lendava tower, which ranks among the most visited tourist spots in the Pomurje region.
