VisitBalaton365 was established in April 2024 as the country's first destination management organisation, continuing the year-round work for Lake Balaton that was initiated by the BalatonBike365 visitor management project. We believe in a year-round Lake Balaton. And we’re taking action to make it happen.

The goal of VisitBalaton365 is to ensure that everyone thinks of Lake Balaton as a year-round tourist destination. As an official destination management organisation, we connect and support professionals involved in tourism, promoting collaboration and sustainable development.
Our organisation acts as a link between central tourism management and regional stakeholders, building bridges between strategic decision-makers, local service providers, and professional organisations.
Our aim is to inspire and encourage those involved in Balaton tourism to operate year-round. Through our professional support, training, and awareness-raising programmes, we contribute to the region's competitiveness and appeal.

  • Tap Water Advocate Where tap water is drinkable, every glass filled from the tap means one less bottle of waste. Ask the provider if the tap water is safe to drink or if filtered water is available – and choose this instead of bottled water.
  • Green Energy Traveller An electric car is truly clean only if it is charged from a clean source. Look for chargers powered by renewable energy – the same kilometre can leave up to 90% less CO₂ footprint compared to an electric vehicle charged with fossil-based electricity.
  • Cycling Explorer On two wheels, you can take in every scent, sound, and detail that a driver would miss. Hop on the provider's bike and explore the area at a pace that's slow enough for observation and fast enough for adventure.
  • Local shopper Money spent at the market, with artisans, or on local produce stays within the community and circulates in the region. Take home the producer's story, not just their goods.
  • Selective Expert Properly sorted waste can largely be given a new lease of life – paper becomes paper, glass becomes glass, metal becomes metal. Dispose of waste in the right place, and your few seconds of effort will benefit generations to come.
  • Bottle Hero A single reusable bottle can replace 20-25 disposable ones in just a week. Refill it at the provider's drinking water tap or refill station as often as you get thirsty – by the end of a week-long holiday, the difference in the bin will be noticeable.

Sustainability status report

The values shown here are produced in I-DEST's internal self-assessment system, based on self-declared data provided by the service provider or location. The feedback shows progress in various areas of sustainability and serves an informative purpose that supports development. The I-DEST snapshot is not an official sustainability rating, not a certification, not an ecolabel and not the result of an independent audit. If the service provider or location holds an external, independent sustainability certification, we indicate that separately.
