More information

Imagine a peaceful, tranquil place surrounded by lush green forests, where everything is about relaxation and rejuvenation. A place where you float amidst vibrant water lilies in turquoise thermal waters – all in the world's largest natural peat-bottomed medicinal lake. Here, it's truly all about you – every detail is tailored to your wishes.

Lake Hévíz is the world's largest biologically active natural thermal lake, refreshing both body and soul.

The 4.6-hectare lake, with a surface area of exactly 46,350 square metres, is fed by a unique spring rich in sulphur, radium, and minerals. Thanks to the abundant water flow, the lake's entire water volume is completely replaced within 72 hours, ensuring it remains fresh and clean. The size of the lake is impressive – its surface area is equivalent to six and a half football pitches. Approximately 410 litres of water emerge from the spring every second, with temperatures around 40°C at the source and a pleasant 24°C on the surface in winter, rising to as much as 38°C in summer, depending on the season.

Hévíz Thermal Bath

The central bath building (“A” building and “B” terrace) located on the Hévíz Thermal Lake will temporarily close to visitors from 18 March 2025 due to technical reasons. This measure only affects the bath building on the lake; the entrances to the Thermal Bath and other facilities will remain open as usual. Bathing in the medicinal lake is still possible, and other associated spa facilities continue to welcome visitors. Our staff are working to resolve the technical issue as quickly as possible so that guests can once again enjoy the affected bath building. Our institution is committed to ensuring the uninterrupted relaxation and recovery of our visitors.

Thank you for your understanding!

Festetics Bathhouse

The Festetics Bathhouse is located right next to the Hévíz Thermal Bath, on its shore. It is named after the Festetics family, who played a key role in developing the bathing culture and initiated the spa life around the lake as early as the late 18th century.

The three-storey building offers visitors a wide range of services. The wellness area includes Finnish and infrared saunas, a steam cabin, an ice cave, a salt chamber, a plunge pool, and a jacuzzi for those seeking relaxation. The therapy centre provides various treatments such as mud packs, underwater massages, and refreshing and wellness massages. Additionally, cosmetic services, as well as hand and foot care, are also available.

The Festetics Bathhouse is an ideal choice for those who wish to combine the healing power of Lake Hévíz with modern wellness experiences.

Saint Andrew Rheumatology Hospital

The Saint Andrew Rheumatology Hospital is the successor to the State Medicinal Spa Hospital, established in the late 18th century on the spa site founded by the Festetics family. Our institution is dedicated to the medical utilisation of our unique natural treasures – the Hévíz Medicinal Lake, the thermal water, and the medicinal mud – which have been proven effective in treating numerous conditions.

Since its foundation, the hospital has operated as a sanatorium and later as a specialised hospital, providing nationwide care for musculoskeletal disorders, particularly rheumatological conditions, through active treatment and rehabilitation.
