The unique aspect of the programme is that participants can actively engage with the edible world of the forest, while also gaining a fresh perspective on the ecological and cultural values of the region.
Gastronomy and travel on the Lillafüred State Forest Railway
The tour begins at the Végállomás Restaurant, where participants board the Lillafüred State Forest Railway train, which takes them through the Bükk forests to the programme's location. The journey itself is one of the region's iconic experiences, offering a unique perspective on exploring the landscape.
Culinary stand-up and nature-inspired education through expert eyes
At the so-called “Edible Forest” station, the programme continues with expert guidance, exploring the forest's edible wild plants, fruits, and mushrooms, while stories, fascinating facts, and forest stand-up comedy add to the experience. The expert guidance is led by Gyula Bózsó, a certified forest engineer, forest food scout, and edible wild plant specialist. By the end of the programme, participants will see the forest through entirely different eyes – and perhaps with a slightly different taste as well.
Four-course modern gastronomic experience with the flavours of the Bükk on your plate
An optional gastronomic programme is also available to deepen the experience further. The kitchen of the Végállomás Restaurant creates a four-course menu inspired by the Bükk, presented with a modern approach.
This arrangement allows the flavours discovered during the tour to be experienced in a restaurant setting, with high culinary quality.

The “Flavours of the Bükk” experience tour combines hiking, knowledge-sharing, and gastronomy to offer a comprehensive experience. The programme showcases the Bükk forests from a new perspective, encouraging participants to connect with the natural environment more consciously and sensitively.
The programme is available in English, German, Russian, Polish, and Finnish for group bookings. The culinary experience is available for groups of at least 25 people. Participants can discover the edible treasures of the Bükk forest, local flavours, and culinary traditions with our expert guides.
