Vinarium Festival: Bogračfest 2026

In the old town centre of Lendava, surrounded by the historic backdrop of bourgeois houses and at the foot of the picturesque Lendava vineyards, the largest bograč cooking competition in Slovenia has been taking place for nearly two decades. From the morning hours, competing teams diligently stir their pots, aiming to prepare the beloved stew to the best of their ability. The prepared dishes are judged by an expert panel, which awards recognition to the most successful chefs. However, the panel does not only evaluate the tastiest bograč but also presents a special award to the team with the most beautifully decorated cooking station. The event is essentially a culinary festival, where, alongside bograč—a traditional winemakers' dish prepared in cauldrons on the Main Street by competing teams—other local delicacies are also featured: Lendava pretzels, crackling flatbreads, and more. And amidst this rich culinary offering, we must not forget the pride of the winemakers, the fine wine that sparkles in the glasses of Bogračfest visitors. Bogračfest traditionally takes place as part of the Vinarium Festival in August, and this year it is scheduled for 22 August 2026.
