The central theme of the Bükk Star Observatory's exhibition is the Sun. In addition to its life-giving influence on Earth, the types of stars, the life cycle of stars, and the invisible characteristics of our Sun are also showcased. Visitors can touch Hungary’s unparalleled meteorite collection and examine their structure using a special microscope. The facility’s main instrument, a 61 cm diameter Corrected Dall-Kirkham astrograph, is housed under the world’s largest mass-produced astronomical dome. While primarily designed for astrophotography, the telescope is also excellent for visual observations. In its planetarium, which offers a unique experience in Central Europe, the wonders of the night sky are displayed on an 8-metre diameter special dome!
In the VR room and on the VR platforms located in the foyer, modern technology is utilised to enhance the experience. During the hang-gliding simulation, you can enjoy a 360-degree view over the Bükk.
The 4-kilometre-long Planetary Trail connected to the Bükk Star Observatory introduces you to the natural, geological, and cultural treasures of the surrounding area.
