This Neo-Renaissance hotel, standing by Lake Hámori, is an iconic retreat for generations. Opened in 1930, Palotaszálló quickly became a popular resort for the elite of the time, reminiscent of King Matthias’ hunting lodges with its stunning hanging gardens and medieval-style bastions. The hotel hosted conferences, diplomatic events, and even famous guests; parts of the 1934 Hungarian film Meseautó (Car of Dreams) were filmed here. After the war, the Palace Hotel operated as a union resort and has undergone extensive renovations since the 2010s, restoring its former glory. In 2015, it became part of the National Heritage Registry and remains a favored destination for couples and families seeking romance and relaxation. Its unique ambiance is enhanced by vintage furnishings, stained glass windows, and the special atmosphere of its tower rooms.
