The church is notable for its Baroque furnishings and a 15th-century Gothic statue of the Virgin Mary, carved by Pauline monks, which stands one metre tall. In its courtyard, there is a statue of Jesus, and in front of the church, you can see the Immaculata of Diósgyőr, a statue of the Immaculate Conception. The church is open for viewing during Mass. A bit of history: The church has medieval origins but appears in its current Baroque style. Its entrance faces west, essentially turning its back on the modern city. This is because the original settlement was located west of the church. A distinctive external feature is the use of buttresses. The church was in the hands of the Reformed Church from 1564 and was returned to the Catholic Church in the mid-18th century. It was consecrated in 1753 by Ferenc Barkóczy, the Bishop of Eger. The church was rebuilt in Baroque style, and its furnishings are also Baroque. On the main altar, Mary is depicted with the infant Jesus, flanked by statues of Saint Stephen and Saint Ladislaus kneeling before them, with praying angels on either side. The church tower was once topped with a Baroque dome, which was altered at the end of the 19th century, resulting in the simpler spire that can still be seen today.
