What initially began as a memorial room has now grown into a museum open to all transport enthusiasts who wish to take a small journey back in time and learn about the history of public transport in the city of Miskolc. Visitors can explore the development and evolution of Miskolc's public transport through numerous photographs and historical artefacts (such as old bus and tram route signs, documents, uniforms, ticketing devices, vehicle models, artefacts, and memorabilia) on display. We can also delve into written records from past periods, documenting the city's transport history as far back as 1895: the foundations of tram transport from 1897, tramway plans, documents, cost calculations – in their original handwritten form – timetables, including the first one from 1971. The museum also exhibits the transport log, handwritten between 1909 and 1960, which documents accidents from that time. The MVK Transport History Museum is open every Tuesday, where a knowledgeable colleague will guide visitors through the past and present of the company's bus and tram operations. Admission is free, but prior registration is required at the MVK Customer Service Office, either in person or by phone, no later than 12:00 pm on the Monday before the planned visit.
