In this charming little square, statues of several notable figures associated with the theatre have been erected. The statue of Róza Laborfalvi Jókainé, a pioneer of realist acting and an outstanding dramatic actress, was created by Borbála Szanyi and unveiled in 2010. In 1857, the National Theatre of Miskolc was inaugurated with a guest performance by the actress, and the opening speech was delivered by her husband, Mór Jókai. A tribute to the legendary actress Róza Széppataki Déryné, who lived in Miskolc from 1867 until her death, stands in front of the stage door of the theatre. The full-figure statue of Hungary's first opera singer and the most popular actress of the travelling theatre era was crafted by Erzsébet Schaár. The statue of Endre Latabár, actor, director, translator, and theatre manager, and the founder of Hungary's greatest acting dynasty, was created by sculptor Éva Varga. Hungary's first permanent stone theatre in Miskolc was inaugurated by Endre Latabár and his troupe. The bust of Attila Nagy, an actor from Miskolc, was made by Géza Balogh. Attila Nagy played an active role in the Miskolc events of the 1956 revolution. Although he found himself at the centre of events by chance, for a few days, the citizens of Miskolc looked up to him as their leader. At the request of the townspeople, he recited poems at various locations in the city.
